This is Us

Your hosts, Cheyenne and Dwayne welcome you to Strongwater! We hope you enjoy the time you spend in our campgrounds and cabins.

Making time to live simply is a sweet reward to yourself.

Take Sunshine Coast Highway from Langdale to Egmont Road, then just watch for our big pink sign on the left. Watch for elk on the road.

SKOOKUMBUS

It all started in about 2008 with a bright pink school bus covered in hippie designs being turned into a food truck. We parked it on the north side of our 7-acre property next to Egmont Road.

In summer, the SkookumBus is available for nightly rental with a double bed inside. The outdoor kitchen contains a 3-burner stove and a BBQ with one full propane tank, a fridge, and a double sink with hot and cold running water, tables, pots & pans, BBQ tools, plates, cups, utensils. A hammock and tree-tables wait nearby in the forest.

A propane fire pit and a propane patio heater are available for rental.

We built the cabins

The campground and cabins came next. The family worked together to CARE-fully build each of the six cabins, two lofts, and the modern central washrooms to be both practical and aesthetic. Each is equipped with electrical plug ins for your convenience.

“An absolute gem. Gorgeous location, everything lovingly hand-built with much attention for detail… We will definitely be back to stay a longer period than the 2 nights we had this time. Thank you, Cheyenne and Dwayne, for making this feel like a homestead instead of a campground.” – Eric Hop

Pleasingly Ingenious and Simple = Elegance

At Strongwater the true elegance is in the details. With the cotton sheets and simple furniture you will sleep like you’re in a luxury hotel. Some good bedside lamps and an electric kettle for morning coffee or afternoon tea. A table, a couple of chairs, and a mini fridge. A deck on which to relax with your favourite beverage. A hammock for you to lay back beneath the trees with a good book.

Our Farm Family

One of the most unique features of this eclectic place is the farm settled on the hill above. Miniature horses, chickens, ducks, geese, bunnies, quail, dogs, and a Guinea hog, plus a few stray cats often sneak down to visit the guests. Guests who wish to come up to the farm for a meet ‘n greet, the Visiting Hours are noon to 2 pm daily. We appreciate your respecting our privacy and the security of our animals by following the posted hours and the rules in the Farm Etiquette tab.

Visiting Hours: Noon till 2:00 Daily

You are invited to contribute to our Donation Box to help with animal upkeep. Every little bit helps.

We welcome families with children to Strongwater. The adorable playhouse with slide offers hours of fun for the little ones to build imagination and creativity.

We have two canoes and two kayaks free for your use on a first-come-first-served basis at Waugh Lake, just a 10-minute walk from Strongwater. Look in the Paddle Shack next to Cabin 6 to find the paddles and life jackets. If they are not there, then the watercraft are already in use.

“If you are coming to visit or surf Skookumchuck - THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE!! Beautiful campground! Wonderful people! And a location that is outstanding! An unforgettable vacation with Strongwater Campground being at the center of it.” – Pat C.

Strongwater Camping & Cabins is across the road from the trailhead to Skookumchuk Narrows. Whether you’re looking for a nice hike to watch the tides collide or if you are into shooting the rapids or surfing them, this is the place to stay with your family or friends. Tides Schedule is available to help plan your visit.

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
