Wild and Rigorous Adventure so close by

The Skookumchuk (Strong Waters in Chinook) Narrows are one-of-a-kind and the Trailhead is right across the road from Strongwater. If you’re here, this is a must-see! The Jervis and Sechelt inlets are huge so when there is a tide change (twice daily), 200 billion gallons of water thrusts its way through the bottleneck causing stand-up waves fit for surfing, deep eddies and whirlpools.

From the trailhead to the Narrows is about 4 km. or about an hour’s walk. The trail is quite wide and not too difficult to navigate. It passes through second growth forest with interpretive signs along the way about the logging history in the area and the fish you can catch in Brown Lake.

Check out Earth Veins on YouTube or Facebook for more amazing footage. Experienced kayakers and surfers like to test their skills on the ‘Skook’ making this an even more spectacular phenomenon to witness.

The Suncoaster Bike Trail is a thrilling 33 km. mountain bike ride which should take between 5-6 hours, barring the stops to picnic or appreciate a breathtaking view. It starts near Klein Lake and ends at Homesite Creek near Halfmoon Bay. It’s been the destination of adventurous mountain bikers since the mid-1990s.

If hiking is your pleasure, then The Sunshine Coast Trail might fulfill that bold adventure you’re looking for. The whole trail is 180 km long. Out of over two dozen entry points along the path, the first one is at the junction of Highway 101 and Egmont Road. The north to south direction is recommended. There are 12 first-come first served huts along the route spaced approximately one-day’s walk apart. Waterfalls, mountain-top views, creeks, and lots of wildlife will be encountered along this trail. Go for a day or take yourself the whole way. Your choice!
